New Feature Documentary Showcases the Timeless “AFFAIR OF THE HEART”

Between Rick Springfield and his Devoted Fans

1st Official Screening/Event to be Held in Malibu on September 26, 2011

MALIBU, CA – August 11, 2011 – Yellow Rick Road Productions, an independent production company, presents the first official screening of the new feature documentary, AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART: The Journey of Rick Springfield and his Devoted Fans. The private screening will take place on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 6:30pm – 11:00pm at the Malibu Screening Room (Malibu Jewish Center Complex) in Malibu, CA.  A limited number of tickets are available to purchase for this once-in-a-lifetime event, which will include a short acoustic performance by Rick Springfield.

“We decided to expand our regular ‘Cast & Crew’ screening and offer a limited amount of tickets to the general public,” said Melanie Lentz-Janney, Executive Producer of the film. “As independent filmmakers, we are always looking for creative ways to garner funding. To offer an opportunity to watch the film for the very first time along with Rick Springfield and some other celebrity guests in an intimate setting seemed like a win/win scenario for everyone. In fact, we are keeping our attendance list at 165 people.”

The 97-minute film brings viewers face-to-face with Grammy® award-winning musician, songwriter, actor, and best-selling author Rick Springfield shedding light on his life and the lives of a few of his most fervent fans. The film showcases what it is about Rick Springfield that inspires his fans and drives them to be lifelong devotees. On the journey, we meet some of his fans and witness the unique connection he shares with each of them.

Rick Springfield and his management team gave their full cooperation to Yellow Rick Road Productions. The production crew traveled around the world with Rick Springfield and his band, and the featured fans selected for the film throughout 2010.

“We just finished mixing all the live music for it. I am very excited about it,” commented Rick Springfield. “The film crew went with fans back to their homes and talked with people who have had profound issues in their lives. It’s all about our connection, whether I’ve been aware of it or not. Pretty human stuff.”

Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. for the Cast/Crew and “Platinum Package” attendees. For $995, “Platinum Package” ticket purchasers will attend a private welcome reception with food and drinks, receive preferred seating at the screening, view the first official screening of the film, watch a Q&A with Rick Springfield and the Director/Producers moderated by Martha Quinn (Original MTV VJ and Host of Sirius/XM channel’s “80s on 8″), get a professional photo with Rick Springfield, enjoy a decadent dessert after-party, acquire a limited edition Swag Bag, obtain a special credit at the end of the film and a signed copy of the DVD (first edition).

For $495, “General Admission” ticket purchasers will receive a seat at the first official showing of the film as well as the Q&A and acoustic set, get a group photo with Rick Springfield, and enjoy a decadent dessert after-party. There are only a few tickets offered at this price point.

OFFICIAL PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT/PRESS RELEASE

It’s A Timeless “Affair of the Heart” Between Rock Icon Rick Springfield and His Fans

First-Ever Film Profiling Springfield Starts Production in May 2010

ORLANDO, FL – April 13, 2010 – Yellow Rick Road Productions, a Florida-based production company, announced today it will be embarking on the first-ever feature documentary about Grammy-Award Winning musician, songwriter, actor, and soon-to-be author Rick Springfield and his ardently loyal fan base. Springfield is best known for his 17 top 40 hits (including his now classic #1 song, Jessie’s Girl), his role on ABC’s hit daytime drama General Hospital, and most recently as a twisted version of himself on the Showtime hit series Californication.  The documentary film, tentatively titled “An Affair of the Heart”, will begin shooting in early May and continue throughout the remainder of 2010. The film will be directed by Emmy Award Winning Director /Producer Sylvia Caminer and produced by entertainment and marketing veteran, Melanie Lentz-Janney.

“When Yellow Rick Road Productions approached us, we felt that the project was something that was worth exploring,” said Rob Kos, President/Owner of Doyle-Kos Management, Rick Springfield’s management company.  “The on-going, intense loyalty and support within Springfield’s fan-base is a topic that he is constantly asked about. We felt it would make a compelling documentary and have given Yellow Rick Road Productions our full support and cooperation.”

Yellow Rick Road Productions was started by Lentz-Janney and Caminer. Caminer brings nearly two decades of film and TV experience to the project (www.dolgerfilms.com).  She is a multiple Emmy Award nominee and won “Best Director” for the Discovery/Travel Channel series “Great Hotels.”  In addition to producing feature films and directing and producing documentary-formatted television shows, she’s an active panelist at numerous international film festivals. Caminer’s most recent projects include two feature documentaries, Angels Among Us and Tanzania: A Friendship Journey.

The filmmakers will be capturing and sharing with the world what it is about Rick Springfield that still creates a frenzy among his fans. Lentz-Janney, who owns and operates Doverwood Communications, Inc., a PR/Social Media/Marketing agency (www.doverwood.com) has worked with numerous celebrities over the past 20 years. Having been a long-time fan, she recognizes first-hand the unique relationship Springfield shares his fans.

The film will focus on some universal human desires, such as the importance of connecting with like-minded friends and the ability to create new memories reminiscent of the carefree days of our adolescence.  The filmmakers anticipate that viewers will be entertained and inspired by Springfield and his fans’ personal experiences to embrace their inner teenagers.

“We really felt at a time of such global uncertainty, we wanted to encourage everyone to find their own ‘Rick Springfield’ (i.e., whatever they are fanatical about – sports, hobbies, music, art, animals, travel, etc.),” said Caminer, who immediately saw the unique perspective of this film and knew it would not be a standard rockumentary. “We hope our film strikes a chord with people to embrace whatever it is that they love and follow their dreams.”

Having performed for millions of fans over the last three decades, and showing no signs of slowing down, Rick Springfield continues to play 100 shows a year, sharing his love of performing with unstoppable energy and his unique brand of crowd interaction with thousands of fans each night. Springfield literally wades deep into the crowd at each show. In October 2010, his memoir titled “Late, Late at Night” will be released, and his annual five-day fan-oriented cruise is set to sail in mid-November 2010.

Yellow Rick Road Productions’ key personnel, though maintaining their individual projects and companies, have joined forces to produce “An Affair of the Heart”. Yellow Rick Road’s distribution plan includes international film festivals, small theatrical releases, a cable television outlet and DVD sales.  The film will be released in 2011 to help commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Rick Springfield’s hit album, Working Class Dog.
